The Peace of God

Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:7

Have you ever found yourself in a difficult situation yet you continued to experience peace that seemed unreal to you? Being in the middle of chaos all the while remaining still can seem very unnatural. As I have found myself in such situations, I have often wondered whether I am “normal” because let’s face it does seem abnormal situation. Yet it shouldn’t be the case because as children of God, we are to be constantly at peace, after all it’s one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. ~ Galatians 5:22-23

Yet it’s one of the fruits of the spirit that is probably the least emphasized. If it is a fruit, then I believe that we can ask for it. When was the last time you asked the Holy Spirit to give you peace?

So what is troubling your heart today? God wants you to have peace, irregardless of the circumstances.

The God of Peace

God tells us in Colossians 3:15 to Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.”

In short, do not look at the confusion that currently surrounds you, but look to Christ who is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). He is the only one who gives us peace.

Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen ~Romans 15:33

  1. “Have you ever found yourself in a difficult situation yet you continued to experience peace that seemed unreal to you?” Yep. Many times in fact. When faced with the hardest of circumstances God has trained us to lean into Him even further. Each time we go deeper into His peace. It is wonderful. Praise God for His great and wonderful peace.
