Delight yourself in the Lord

This seemed like the appropriate post after I shared with you about some of the storms I that have had to weather in my last post. First of all, I must say that I have amazing friends!  Right after I had published that post my friend and prayer partner sent me Psalms 46 that describes EXACTLY what I have been going through. I was blown away! God cares about our heart and He will send friends (righteous ones of course) to minister to us through encouragement, scripture and prayer. Anyway, this is a whole post for another day .

Today I want to share with you about the power of praise. For a while now, God had been speaking to me on this and the scripture He placed in my heart is Psalms 37:4

Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.

I believe that the reason He kept reminding me of this this is because I had started to take my eyes off Him placed more focus on my issues. I realized that the more I gave my problems priority, the bigger they started to look.

However, that should not be the case, Psalms 46:1 reminded me that:

And this last week I have learnt the power of praise and I told God that despite everything, I will praise you, I will lift up your name. As I’ve continued to exalt Jesus, I have found myself falling in love with Him and my heart just desires to know Him more, and to stay in His presence.

As I set aside all my issues by truly laying them at His feet and just focused on Him, He began to do amazing things! One by one, He has begun to give me solutions to my problems.

God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved;
God shall help her, just at the break of dawn. Psalms 46:5

In this time, He has taught me that we worship God because He is mighty, not because of our feelings. And I know many of us, I included, are guilty of worshiping God because of what He has done for us, forgetting that He is Mighty and we cannot worship Him when we feel like it. We must learn to worship Him at all times especially when it’s darkest and we are so low and discouraged, that is the most powerful form of worship we  can give to God.

Praising God disarms the enemy. He hates it when we exalt the name of Jesus above our problems. How about we stopped mopping around and truly praised God till Satan has no choice but to flee. The Israelites mastered the art of praising God and as a result disarmed their enemies, God arose and scattered them.

At the very moment they began to sing and give praise, the LORD caused the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir to start fighting among themselves.-
2 Chronicles 20:22

Everyday, lets endevour to lift up the name of Jesus by offering Him our praise. Set aside some time, either in the morning or before you sleep and just exalt His name and watch what He does.

Before you go…..

Are you born again? Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior? If not and you would like to delight in His presence, I encourage you to say this prayer out loud:

Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner in need of your forgiveness. I believe that you died on the Cross and rose again and by doing so you paid the ultimate penalty for my sins. I invite you into my life to be my Lord and Savior and to have your way in my life. I thank you that I am now a new creation. Amen
