Come As You Are

Wow, It’s been a minute since I was last here, goodness! I can’t believe that we’re already in the last week of the year. I’m believing God that I shall be able to put up a post for the next 5 days.

I have a couple of posts that the Lord has been speaking to me about and to be honest I’ve not been penning them down but here we are.

Today I’ll be tackling a topic I’ve previously covered (read the post here) on the masks we wear.

The Woman with 5 husbands

Remember the story of the woman with 5 husbands? The full story can be found in John 4:4-26 however I will highlight a small portion of the story:

16 He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”

17 “I have no husband,” she replied.

Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. 18 The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.”

This story reminds us that God knows us, even the not so great stuff we have done. However, He wants us to go to Him and tell Him, God, I’m a mess and I need you. My favor29 “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” 30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him.te part in this story is when this woman goes into town and tells everyone, “

29 “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” 30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him.

A while back the Lord was speaking to me on two kinds of Christians:

  1. He gave me a picture of a well dressed lady whose hair and make up is on point. Looking at her on the surface she seems to have it all together. She doesn’t look like she has any issues.
  2. The other group is those types of Christians who believe that holiness = how we dress. They believe that our dressing dictates whether we will go to Heaven or not

He (God) was showing me that often times we approach Him from a place of inauthenticity. We wrongly think that He sees things the way that humans do. He doesn’t judge from the exterior like human beings, God looks at the heart.

He wants us to approach Him from a place of authenticity and to be open with Him about the situations we are going through.

As we go into 2022, practice authenticity before God

Psalm 44:21
Would not God find this out?
For He knows the secrets of the heart.
