A Father’s Love (Happy Father’s Day)

Once again, its that time of the year when we get to celebrate our dads so……. Happy Father’s Day to all the daddies out there!

However, I understand that for a number of people, this day can be very painful because their dad’s aren’t around for various reasons. There are also dad’s who don’t get to be celebrated by their children.

You Have a Father

If that’s you, the Lord wants you to know that you have a father in Him and everything you have been looking for in a dad, you can find in Him. He cares for you, He loves you and you are not alone for He is with you.

Also, it’s OK to celebrate God as a father, not only tomorrow but everyday of the year (anyday/anytime) because while you may not have had access to your earthly dad He (God) is always going to be there for you.

I know that it may seem strange for some people (born again, spirit filled believers BTW) to see God as a Father based on their experiences with their earthly dad but one thing that God longs for is for us to have an intimate relationship with Him as a dad and each one of us as a son/daughter. The roles of a father include:

  • Provision
  • Protection
  • Leadership etc

And God wants to do that for every one of us as our dad.

As a Father:

1. He loves you unconditionally.

Jeremiah 31:3 says that, “The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.

2. He calls you the apple of His eye.

For thus said the LORD of hosts, after his glory sent me to the nations who plundered you, for he who touches you touches the apple of his eye. Zechariah 2:8

3. Everything that concerns you concerns Him.

Matthew 6: 25-27 ~Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?  Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?  Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

Matthew 6:30-31 ~ If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’

4. He is a detailed GOD who notices when a strand of hair falls off your head.

Luke 12:7 ~ Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

5. NOTHING can separate us from the father’s love.

Romans 8:28-29~ For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

There is so much more to know about God as a father. Let Him in and allow Him to just love on you and care for you.

One comment on “A Father’s Love (Happy Father’s Day)

  1. oh this is such a nice post. it helps focus on the “Father” side of God and draw closer to Him as His child…what an awesome privilege the Lord has given us that we should be called the sons and daughters of God.
